1954 - Big Joe Turner recorded the song “Shake, Rattle & Roll.”
1957 - The Coasters recorded the song “Young Blood.”
1961 - Jackie Wilson was shot and seriously wounded. Media reported that he was shot by a fan, but he was actually shot by his girlfriend after she caught him with another woman. He fully recovered from his wounds.
1965 - The Beatles released the single “Eight Days a Week” in the U.S.
1965 - Nat King Cole, singer and pianist died from lung cancer at the age of 45.
1968 - Little Walter, blues harmonica player died from injuries suffered from a street fight at the age of 37.
1981 - Mike Bloomfield, blues guitarist died from a heroin overdose at the age of 37.
